- When Pro Tools 10 was announced, one of the main features a lot of us were looking forward to was clip gain. Other DAWs had had this before and the amount of control it allows is pretty awesome. Clip gain is a great help for me with vocal tracks. I find that I can get in there and really manipulate little spots and keep the vocals even and keep words legible, but it takes a little bit of experience and trial and error to figure out how to make that work. We've got a raw vocal here that I tracked a while back. I'll play a little bit against the music for ya. ♫ Holy prophets ♫ Come to speak, yeah ♫ In the age of the apocalypse ♫ Broken hearts and dreams ♫ - That sounds fine. You can see that there's some dynamics in there. Let's pull this up a little. But you can see certain spots are quieter for sure.
