Comparison of the different mic types

- [Instructor] I'd like to play you some audio examples so that you can listen to the tonal differences between a dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphone. This song example was recorded with the Slate Digital Virtual Microphone system, or VMS for short. The technology within the VMS consists of a proprietary microphone and pre-amp that's designed to be extremely flat. This works in conjunction with plug-in modules that offer a variety of classic emulations of both microphones and pre-amps. With this technology, it's possible to change the mic or pre-amp after recording has taken place. This is the Classic Instruments microphone module, which has dynamic microphones, ribbon microphones, and even more condensers to choose from. And over here we have the microphone pre-amp modules. Currently they have one for solid state and one tube. So here we are in the session, and I have inserted three instances of the plug-in modules. And first is the dynamic, then condenser, and ribbon.
