- [Instructor] There are times when it's difficult to find the right balance of stereo or double guitars if they're panned too wide, they don't fit in the mix, yet if you pan them too much to the center, they step on the vocal. Here's a way to get the balance and the width of those guitars without getting in the way of that vocal. Let's listen, first of all, to these guitars right here just by themselves for a little bit. (guitar music) Now let's listen to them in the mix. Listen to how they add the power and (inaudible). Let it go for a couple of phrases and then I'll mute these guitars and you can see how the vocal actually has more space but the guitars add the power and once the guitars are gone, there's less power in the mix. Have a listen. (upbeat music) So you can hear what happened there. We had a lot of power but the guitars were fighting with the vocals, then we lost the power but the vocals are nice and clear. So we have a way to get around that, to get the best of both…
