So several years ago I had a client contact me about mixing an album he've been recording. He sent me some MP3s to listen to, and they are all really fuzzy and distorted and pretty wild sounding. But I thought, hey it sounds kind of interesting, it will be fun job. When I got the files to mix, I brought them up on the console through individual channels. And there was no distortion, everything sounded very clean and sounded a lot straighter than I expected. It turned out he hadn't created a Master Bus in Pro Tools and he had been recording his tracks in, leaving them all at zero and just overloading the Mix Bus on his Pro Tools system. So, I'll show you what he was doing right here, this is an easy trick. Number one he didn't create the master bus. We're going to leave one in place here so that you can see what's happening.
