Creating an ensemble from one musician

Larry: I'm going to show you a really cool trick that, I've never heard people talk about that much. It's real easy to do, and it's a really neat effect. You can create a whole ensemble recording, using only one musician, as long as you do this. Use a stereo pair of mics in a decent sounding room. Now what I do, is I take the musician, and move them. Acou-, leave the mics where they are, and move the musician in the room, so that they're showing up in different parts of the stereo field. This is a really great trick, and adds a sense of depth and width to the recording. So we got my friend Erin back here. We're going to have her sing a, a vocal part four times over itself, the same part of the song, and we're going to move her left to right, across the sound field while we record this. Or while, we'd run the different takes I should say. So we'll move up here, and we'll start up here, on the carpet here. And then we'll do the first take, and then we'll do three more passes.
