Creating a gradual tempo change
- (Instructor) The tempo operations window in Pro Tools lets you define tempo events over a range of time or measures. In music production, it's common to have a gradual tempo increase, accelerando, or decrease, ritardando, across several measures. Using the tempo operations window, you can achieve these effects in your session's tempo map. I'll use the synth based track in this session to illustrate the effect. So I'll hide these other audio tracks for now. Next, I'll display the tempo ruler, using the ruler view selector. So let's say that I wanted to add a gradual tempo increase between bars 11 and 14. I'll start by making a timeline selection and then I'll access the tempo operations function And for this illustration, I'll use the linear option. The tempo operations window displays the selection's start and end times and also the current start and end tempo. So this selection currently starts at 116 beats per minute and also ends at 116 beats per minute. But I'll change the end…
