- [Instructor] I get a lot of tracks of mix these days that originate from virtual instruments, and many of them are pads, drone-y, synth-y, string-like parts, that sometimes hover in the background of a mix. Others, as well, are distinct keyboard parts but have a little bit of stereo width but not too much. In order to make these kinds of tracks fit into a mix, I've come up with ways of re-amping them to add depth and width. In this case, I piped them out through the extra studio monitors in my live room and split the speakers far apart with a stereo pair of mics in between to capture the sound. Here's the original direct virtual instrument sound. There's a little bit of stereo modulation that moves some of the imaging back and forth but not very much.
