I've run you through a lot of parts of the recording process that have kind of baffled me along the way when I was younger, and I want to get those out in the open and clear and something you can really understand. When a piece of music is being recorded there's a kind of magic or fantasy that almost has to happen. You want something to be more than what it really is. You want something very dramatic. You want something exciting and inviting. You want to create a place that the listener wants to go to, be inside that song. So take a lot of these techniques and think of limitations that will help you get there. Think of the fantasy that you placed on records when you listened to them as a child and try to imbue the tracks you're recording with that kind of excitement.
