DC Offset Removal
- [Instructor] In this chapter, we're going to look at some of the useful utility plug-ins found under the Other section of the Audio Suite menu. These are all found only in the Audio Suite menu and are not available as real time plug-ins found in other locations. I'm going to start here with DC Offset Removal. So, what is DC Offset? Well, when you look at audio wave forms, in most cases they're symmetrical in terms of the waves having equal distribution above and below the center line, referred to as the zero crossing point. Now all wave forms have naturally occurring asymmetrical portions like the spikes you see here and here and here. But these sorts of things are nothing to worry about, especially if you can't hear any issues in the audio. DC Offset is usually noticeable both visually and audibly, often when the entire wave form looks like it's not centered on the zero crossing point and you can hear artifacts like clicks or pops or other unwanted sounds.
