Editing MIDI clips

- [Instructor] Editing MIDI data is a pretty straightforward process, and in many ways is similar to editing audio. However, some significant differences can apply. One important consideration is the effect of working in clips view and how clip-based edits will or will not impact the underlying MIDI notes. In this session, I have some MIDI on various tracks, and I'm going to work with the horns track here to demonstrate some basic operations. Note that I'm working in clips view, as shown here by the track view selector. As when editing audio clips, I can perform common edit operations in this view, like deleting selections, copying and pasting clips or selections, and trimming clips. I can also trim back out to recover trimmed material, but at times these operations may not have the expected results. Consider what happens, for example, when I trim the end of a clip containing sustained notes. Here, the sustained notes overhang the end of the clip. This is because the note durations…
