Getting your session organized
The first step in any good mix is good organization. So let's input the files that were given to me by my friend, Andy Galore. Let's see what he's got here. I like to put the files in a certain order almost as if I had recorded them on tape. So, the drums would be at the top, and then the bass, and then the harmonic instruments, and then the soloists at the bottom. So, I'll see if I can quickly move things around to make some semblance of order. And I can tell from these names they were two mics on the kick, two mics on the snare. There should be a high hat and some toms. And overhead, and mostly likely some rooms. So, we obviously dealing with a live drum kick. We have a bass and a bass soloists, bigfoot I'm guessing is probably a in front of the kick. We have some percussion and Then we get into the guitars. Kalimba is a percussion instrument, I believe. And piccolo snare. I think the drummer had an auxiliary snare. Some shakers. Another synth. Okay, then I like to separate them…
