- [Instructor] One of the things that a great mixer will do is add energy to the mix in a way that wasn't there before. Here's a way to increase the energy of the background vocals as a song goes along. So first of all we'll listen to the background vocals soloed, and this is in the first chorus. ♫ Day la la la - [Instructor] This sounds pretty good but what we'd like to is raise the energy in each chorus as it goes along. So what we'll do is raise the level of the highest vocals. So let me just show you what happens here. This is the very first vocal part here. ♫ Day la la la - [Instructor] Now here's the next time that happens, and you can see we're up a db and a half or so. And have a listen. ♫ Day la la la - [Instructor] Now listen to the first one again. ♫ Day ♫ Day la la la - [Instructor] As that high vocal comes up so does the energy and that makes a very interesting especially in the track.
