Keep a running list of song titles and ideas

- [Instructor] One of the best ways that I know to jumpstart the creative process is to keep a running list of song titles or ideas. Every morning, I have a little spiral bound journal, and I will write down a title idea. Just one title idea, first thing in the morning, and that way, no matter what, I've got a book full of title ideas that I can refer to. Now, ways to think or get title ideas, can include going to a bookstore. Since titles are not copyrightable, you can go into a bookstore, and I guarantee you, you will find thousands of book titles that could easily translate into song titles. So a bookstore is a great place to look for song titles, and another favorite thing that I have found over the years is that when you're in a conversation with someone, every once in awhile, if you're keeping your ears open and staying alert, someone will say something, and you'll think to yourself, huh, that could be a song title. My recommendation is, whenever you think that, just write it down right away so that you've got yet another title that you can refer to, because when you sit down to write sometimes and you're looking at a blank page, even something as simple as being able to choose through a list of titles, can jumpstart your creative your process and really make a huge difference.
