Line up out-of-sync tape tracks

- [Voiceover] Over the years I've had a number of mixes where I've had to work in the digital world align tracks back up that had been recorded on tape. One of the reasons for this is the archive work I do for Elliot Smith. In many cases we have songs where there've been a multi-track recording, an eight-track recording of various instruments that are sub-mixed down to another tape machine, probably a DAT machine or something. And then dumped back to another spot on the same reel, or a different reel of eight-track tape. And then more instruments were added. So, what I wanted to do was to have more control over, say drum mixes and things like that, by lining up these earlier takes with the new sub-mix takes. And then mix like from say almost 15 tracks in some cases instead of eight that would be on the tape. So, the system I worked up to do this is kind of unique, I think.
