- [Narrator] A request that's pretty common but sometimes difficult to interpret is that you make the mix wider. For those of you making that request you might compare it to other mixes and think that your mix sounds a little too narrow, and you'd like it to reach out more to the left and right of your stereo image if you're listening to speakers or headphones, and that can be achieved in various different ways. Anything can be made to appear further outside in the stereo spectrum with a few little tricks. Obviously if something is recorded in stereo, for instance, on two mono tracks for instance, often times, let's see if this song has it that way. It might be an overhead left and right recording on two mono tracks. Of course you want to make sure that those are panned all the way out to the left and right, and that goes for guitars that are recorded, one and a double, or any stereo instrument that can be panned hard left and right.
