Mixing mono electric guitar in stereo

- [Instructor] Many times I get sent typical rock band trio type sessions to mix. There'll be the usual drums, bass, vocals, and a single electric guitar through most of the song. For myself, when mixing, I like to open up the stereo field a little bit. So simply panning the single electric guitar track to the center feels sonically uninteresting to me and kind of limited, like this. (upbeat rock music) I have several techniques that I will use in order to widen these type of guitar tracks. The first is a classic technique, where I create a fake double of the guitar. I duplicate the track. I'll pan the old track left and the new one right. Using a short delay, in fact, I keep a preset available called Guitar Double. And I'll start around 25 milliseconds, with no feedback, no regeneration and 100% wet signal.
