- Mixing. Finally we're here. Let's take a look at some techniques and some concepts that will help you to understand the mix process. First of all, mixing is such a deep and varied subject matter. This can fill up an entire course on its own. In fact, it has filled up many courses which you can see that take one bullet point that we're going to talk about and have a whole course about it. This one, we're going to look at all of the concepts and look at a few techniques that are going to help you in the process. What is mixing? I look at mixing as something that's comprised of three different things. Number one: balancing the various things that are in your mix. So you've got drums, bass, guitars, organs, vocals, background vocals, horns. You're balancing the volumes of each of these things, relative to one another to get a good blend.
