- [Instructor] Monitoring is comprised of essentially two parts, speaker and controller. A simple explanation would be a speaker reproduces the sound and the controller controls the level being sent to the speaker. A controller can have many names such as a monitor section, center section, or monitor controller, but they serve the same purpose. Dependent on your needs, a monitor controller can have many features that can be useful tools in the studio. These features range from the obvious volume, left-right swap, face flip, dim, left mute, right mute, speaker switching, input routing, and metering.
