One electric guitar tracked stereo

- [Instructor] Sometimes I get tracks to mix where there is only a single mono electric guitar rhythm track. When combining that with bass, drums and other instruments, I always feel like it would have been nice if the tracking engineer had done something to add some width or stereo dimension to the track. In some of my other videos, I talk about using two guitar amps when tracking for a wider sound or using mixing tricks to spread out sounds in stereo. But here I decided to focus on using only one guitar amp and show others how to create stereo width and depth during tracking. First I track the amp with a single mic on the speaker cone. (upbeat guitar music) It's a pretty straightforward sound and seems okay. Then I track the same part with two mics on the speaker in an XY pattern, as opposed to both pointing at the center of the cone. (upbeat guitar music) So that's with the two mics.
