Parallel track drum edit trick

- [Instructor] This is a simple trick I use all the time, and I rarely see other engineers work this way, so I wanted to share it. I find myself doing a lot of drum edits, where there was no click track used during recording, which, by the way, I believe is a totally valid way of working when making records. But in these cases, because of the lack of a metronomic beat, there's no way to use grid-based editing when fixing drum takes, so here's what I will do. First, I'll duplicate all the drum tracks, but not include their audio or any group assignments. Then I'll create a new group with these new tracks, so I can edit them all as one. I'll copy the section that I want to use to replace an existing section, and I'll drop it roughly in the area where it will fit, but instead of placing it over my existing drums, I'll put it on the new, empty tracks below. I'll usually move the kick drum track from the original drums down, so I can visually see the two next to each other, for lining up…
