Parallel vocal compression

- [Instructor] When mixing, we tend to always think of applying compression directly on the source. But many times, using parallel compression can be a better choice. For vocals, parallel compression can help retain all the dynamics of the original performance while boosting the core of the singer's voice and keeping words present in the mix. To do this in ADA, I'll make a copy of the vocal track, retaining any plugins like the de-esser here, or an EQ, if used, but not any compression that might be on the track already. Then I will apply a fairly strong compression on the new vocal track, clamping it down so the vocal has little in the way of dynamics.
