- So we're entering the phase of post-production now, and we call it post-production because theoretically, we're done tracking the instruments and we're done tracking the vocals, but is it done? Don't worry if you need to go backwards. The whole production process is not a linear, smooth, neat thing. There are lots of times where you'll go back and need to do things. You need to fix stuff, add stuff, edit stuff. That's totally cool; it happens all the time. What are some instances where you need to fix these things? Well, what if your track is too dense? Before you even get to mix, you'll see that like, "Wow, there's too much stuff going on here." You've been in it for so long and zoomed in that you're listen back and be like, "Woah, this isn't working." Another thing, it could be too busy. There could be too many guitar parts. There can be not enough energy in the chorus. There may be not enough build into the bridge. The transitions between the sections may not be good, or there…
