- [Instructor] In my video, two bass amp mics to audition, I ran a dynamic mic versus a condenser mic and surprised myself with how much I like the condenser mic on bass guitar. For this video, I tried the dynamic mic versus a ribbon mic. I placed them as close together as I could and I wasn't sure what I would get. Here's the ribbon mic on its own. (light bass music) And here's the dynamic. Back to the ribbon. Dynamic. These two mics were definitely closer in sound than the dynamic mic and the condenser mics were before. More high mid-range click or bite is noticeable in the dynamic but whether one would want that would really depend on the music being recorded. Now let's hear these in the track with the band. Here's the ribbon mic. (upbeat music) And the dynamic. Back to the ribbon. Back to the dynamic. When you hear them in the mix, it starts to feel to me like the ribbon mic has a little bit better evenness on the low end. Kind of centered around 100 hertz or so. And that could be…
