- [Instructor] Another thing that sets serious songwriters apart from hobbyists is scheduling an appointment to write. What I mean by this is of course there are times where we get inspired just out of nowhere and we have to sit down right that moment and create but one of the ways that you can consistently create great material is to schedule an appointment to write and more importantly, keep that appointment. I know that with creativity it's very easy to find tons of other things that you can be doing at any given moment but dedicating a time to write, setting that appointment and then keeping that appointment really does add a level of seriousness to your creativity and to your songwriting. On top of that, it's important to remember that if you want to become a professional songwriter or better yet generate income from your songs then on some level it's like any other job and with any other job you are required to show up on time and do the work.
