Setting up the mix
- Finally, we're at the last step before mixing, but we're not mixing yet. We're setting this thing up for mix. Why do we need to set up a mix? What's the point of that? Why can't I just jump in and mix a tune? Well, the answer is you can, but then you might be spending a lot of extra time and effort doing all these things that you should've done before. So this is all about focusing your energy on the most important thing at a time. So let's get it all straightened up first, and set up properly and then we can really mix. First question to ask, are you mixing or is someone else mixing? If someone else is mixing, which is often the case, what you want to do is make this super simple, turnkey solution easy for them. Now, they might not have the same plugins that you do, they might not have the same virtual instruments. So what you need to do is print those things, and printing means you're taking midi or you're printing through effects, and then creating audio from that. When the…
