Setting up your session

Before you even get into mixing, it's best to set up your session so the mix is both a lot more efficient and keeps you from making any mistakes as well. In this video, I will show you all the different things that you can do to prep your DAW session. Before anything else, the first thing I would like to do is make a copy of the file. So if this was the file that we recorded into, the first thing I will do is I will right-click on the mouse, I will bring up this dialog, and I will go down and say Duplicate. Next thing I want to do is I want to rename it, and since this is going to be a mix, I am going to call it mix1. The reason why I want to call it mix1 is, if you are doing this right, you may have a lot of mixes. You will go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and there may be up to 100. It's not unheard of to go that far.
