Single word delay

- [Bobby] Vocals don't always require effects over the entire track. Sometimes it's only a word or two here and there that really need that extra help. Here's the way to do that in the smoothest fashion. First of all, let's listen to the track and concentrate on the lead vocal. ♪ You're a wild flower ♪ ♪ In a field of gray concrete ♪ ♪ A flash of color in the dark ♪ ♪ And empty echos up the street ♪ - [Bobby] That sounds pretty good, there's already a bit of a delay there and also some reverb. What we really want is something in between the vocal phrases and there's a couple ways to do that. One way is to get it by automating the vocal delay return. So it would be something like this, this is our return right here and this is what it would sound like. ♪ You're a wild flower ♪ ♪ In a field of gray concrete ♪ ♪ A flash of color in the dark ♪ ♪ And empty echos up the street ♪ - [Bobby] Now a couple things happened there.
