Snare ambience

- [Instructor] It's nice to put some ambience around the snare, but many times just about the time we can hear it, the snare begins to lose its power. This trick will let you keep the initial snare groove and still give you the ambience that you want. First, let's listen to the song with all the instruments in. (country music) The snare sounded pretty good. It was dry. Let's add some reverb. (country music) You can hear it's really hard to make it sound ambient; to give it the power of the ambience without it feeling muddy because of all of the leakage that the reverb is reacting to. Not only is it reacting to the snare hit, it's reacting to the high hat especially. The leakage from the high hat. That's what we don't want, because it does make it muddy, but we can make the sound better, and here's how we do it. First thing, we're going to turn this up just so you can hear it. (isolated percussion, drum and high hat) I've inserted the snare reverb right here so we can see it easily…
