- [Instructor] I get sent a lot of songs to mix, and increasingly large numbers of these tracks show up as stereo audio files. Once I receive these files, part of my job is to figure out if these are truly stereo sounds, or if they are really mono tracks exported as stereo, something that Apple's Logic DAW frequently does. And if they are stereo tracks, how much stereo content do they really contain? All of this will help me with making decisions during the mix process. I find a lot of issues with virtual instruments in this realm, so we will examine them, as well as some real drums. In this session, I've created an audition path, via a mix subgroup, by sending all the audio tracks to buses one and two, left and right. For the bus returns, or aux inputs labeled mono, the channels are panned to the center, and the right channel has a trim plugin inserted, allowing me to flip the polarity of the channels against each…
