- [Instructor] So, here we want to talk about notes that you might wish to receive ahead of time that affect the overall approach you take to a mix, and the terms that might be used in an overall kind of comment, and I may mention the fact that I prefer not to get these kind of notes, because they almost always don't work out the way you think they will. But, let's say that the aesthetic of the album, as described to you, the mixer, is that it should be slick and clean and polished and shiny. Those are all terms that, to me, suggest the smiley faced curve on an equalizer. So, here you have a drawing of a smiling face, sort of, in the graph, and what we've done here is we've subtracted mid range, the 1K, roughly 1K area, and boost it at the top and bottom, and you could call it a smiley face EQ, you could call it high-fi EQ, but it tends to make the overall sound of a mix more polite, as another word you might receive as a note.
