Use delay to fix percussion

- [Instructor] I was working on a session recently where an outside musician had sent in some percussion takes to use on the songs I had tracked. In many cases, the percussion felt slightly ahead of the beat. But every time I try and nudge the track backwards in time, it would feel like I'd gone a little bit too far. Here I've created a track with a similar problem with percussion playing up ahead of the beat. (uptempo drum beat) To fix this, what I'll do is to put a simple delay plugin on the percussion track set to a 100% wet mix and a zero millisecond delay time. Then I'll slowly increase the delay amount until the percussion feels more relaxed and in the beat. (uptempo drum beat) Let's check that again. We'll do a little bypass and see if that feels good. (uptempo drum beat) You can tell when I bypass the delay it kind of jumps forward a little bit. And when we put it back in, it relaxes on the beat. I always…
