Welcome

- [Instructor] Hi, this is Brian Malouf. Welcome to A Mix Engineer's Glossary of Techniques. This course is for people who would like to better understand the language at the professional recording studio, and the techniques that are employed when addressing and commenting on audio recordings and stereo mixes. This course will provide you with a glossary of terms that, while in the context of everyday conversation mean one thing, but to musicians, producers, engineers and mixers, could mean something else entirely, and with which you may not yet be familiar. And for those of you who are giving notes on mixes, these terms will make familiar the lingo commonly used in the studio, thus giving you the ability to speak the language. I'll show you how I tackle each individual task and in most cases, demonstrate all the various ways I could accomplish the same effect. And by the end of the course, you'll be able to better interpret the notes you're given. And for those of you who wish to give constructive and concise notes to the people working on your music, you'll know the proper nomenclature on how to better ask for what you want. (upbeat music)
