- [Instructor] The Pultec EQP1 is one of the sweetest sounding EQs ever made, and it's the secret weapon of engineers and producers around the world even 60 years after it was first introduced. But there is one secret trick that really makes it stand out from every other EQ on the planet. It may be counterintuitive, but you'll find that it works like a charm. So first of all, let's listen to this track. We're just going to listen to guitar, bass and drums, just the rhythm section, that's it. (rhythm track) Pretty big sounding. Let's listen to the kick, and I already have an EQP1 that's inserted in the track. So let's solo it up, let's get our EQP1 up. Right now we have it set at 30 cycles on the low frequeny. Listen what happens with the kick as we boost that 30 cycles. (rhythm track) It gets really woofy, but here's the secret of the Pultec, and that's if we boost and attenuate at the same time it actually makes it sound better. It's counterintuitive.
