- [Narrator] Project scope is the name for what is included in the project, and just as important, what isn't included. It tells you what the project needs to accomplish. It can also help you avoid unnecessary work. Deliverables are the foundation of project scope because they describe what the project is supposed to deliver. I have included an example from our sample project in the exercise file folder. The scope for the new office and technology project includes the built-out office space and the operational information technology. A scope statement, also called a statement of work, is a formal description of the project scope. A scope statement is often included in a legal agreement. For instance, when the project involves one person or company hiring another. The scope statement lists deliverables that the project needs to complete.
