Manage small projects effectively
- Because small projects have their own idiosyncrasies, here are five tips for managing small projects. First, be sure to understand what the project is all about. What does the customer really want? What's really driving the project? The finish date, cost, or the project scope? That is, what the project is supposed to deliver. Speaking of scope, be sure to spell it out. It's crucial that everyone understand what is within the boundary of the project, and just as important, what's outside the boundaries of the project. Imagine if you got close to the end of the project and discovered that your team didn't realize that one important deliverable was in scope. It might sound strange, but my second tip is do just enough to make the project a success. Your goal as project manager is to complete the project successfully, no less and no more.
