Overview of small project management
- Managing small projects shares a lot of the same activities as managing large projects. However, the approach is simpler and results-oriented so you don't overwhelm your project with excessive management and communication. Let's start here with a quick overview of the steps you perform in managing a small project. We'll then look at them in more detail in the chapters that follow. With a small project, you might be tempted to dive in and get down to work. But taking some time to define your project will pay big dividends. The first step is identifying the point of the project. In other words, why are we doing this project? For the office project setup, the point is to open an office that will support the business's growth. A project definition includes information like objectives, scope, constraints, and so on. You can whip one up in an hour or so.
