- [Claire] Every 17 months, the Python language sheds its skin and comes out as an improved creature, but it can be tough to keep up with it. That's why I'm here with you today, to talk you through the major new features, improvements, and deprecations so you can keep on top of what's current in the Python language. I'm Claire Burn and I've been a data engineer specializing in Python for three and a half years. I have a Master's degree in cybersecurity from Queens University, Belfast and I currently work for the global cybersecurity firm, Rapid7, as a software engineer. As a global ambassador for the organization, Women Who Code, I teach and mentor women in their technical careers all over the world. I also founded and co-lead the Annual Women Techmakers Belfast Conference. I'm super passionate about giving back to the tech scene. In this short course, we'll cover the newest Python enhancement proposals in 3.9. We'll also cover the module improvements and the deprecations introduced in this new version. Finally, I'll talk you through how to port to Python 3.9 from an older version and why it's really important to pay attention to some of the breaking changes in this release. I'm super excited to go on this journey with you, so let's dive right in.
