- One of the newest features in QGIS is the ability to make 3D maps but first we have to start with a 2D map, so let's do that now. If we drag and drop the building shape file Okay and the parcel shape file Let's make sure the buildings are above parcel's and maybe I'll just make the parcel a little more transparent. There we are. There we go. Little better. So now we have buildings over top of parcels. Now, this is only viewed in 2 dimensions. But, to view it in 3 dimensions, we simply have to add a new 3 dimensional map. So under view, we can click new 3D map view. So what's happening now in this small window, is it's loading the 2 dimensional map into this frame. Now we can make this as big or as small as we want so I'm going to stretch it so it's a lot bigger. There we go. And as you can see it's the exact same map in 2 dimensions.
