Creating new vector vata
- [Instructor] Creating data from scratch is one of the best features of QGIS. It is easy to create a new layer and digitize data to that layer. The first layer we're going to create is actually a pothole layer, and we're going to create a ShapeFile and add pothole points to it. So under layer, we'll go create layer, new ShapeFile layer. The file name will just be called potholes. We may have to browse to where we want to put that. I'll just put it on the Desktop. It'll be points, we have points, multipoints, lines, and polygons, in this case it'll just be a point. It'll have three or four fields so we're going to remove that ID1. We're actually going to call it PH ID, as in pothole, and it will be a whole number, and then we'll add it. The next one will be pothole type, and that will be text data, make it about 80, add that. And we're going to do pothole date, so we're going to record what dates the pothole was recorded…
