- [Instructor] Understanding the components of QGIS Help to guide you through the install process and use of the product. We will explore all of the components of QGIS for data collection, analysis, mapping and sharing in data. Let's do a quick overview of what QGIS has to offer now. When I first open QGIS I like to create favorites. Favorites help me locate my files when I need them. In this case I made a favorite that goes directly to my exercise files on my desktop. That way I can go to the files and folders in my exercise files when I need them. If you don't see favorites or you don't see your browser simply go View Panels, and check the browser check box. That way the browser panel will appear. So I created a new favorites. So I go into my favorites and look inside my exercise files. You'll see I have CVS, RASTER, shape. If I expand shape you'll see a number of shapefiles inside of there, for example bike routes. If I…
