- [Instructor] Filtering layers is an effective way to show only the data you need to see. But if you have more than one or two filters that you want to add, using thematic tools would be way more effective. Let's try that in our map now. Let's drag and drop this PIPES shp into our current session. Click OK. There are our water pipes for the whole city. Now we're going to theme this by the type. So we're going to rename this layer to PIPES by Type. Double click on it. Go into Symbology. And instead of a single symbol, we're going to choose Categorized. The column we're going to use to categorize it will be called type, and we're going to hit Classify. And click OK. So now we have PIPES by Type, Fire Lines, Hydrant Leads, Primary Distribution, Primary Supply. We may want to change Primary Supply because those are all the mains, so I want to make that slightly bigger by going 0.5. Now, did you see what I did…
