Computing descriptive statistics
- [Instructor] When you're analyzing data it's always a good idea to start with visualizations first, and when you have a quantitative variable that's an interval or ratio level, sometimes called a continuous variable, when you're measuring something that is measured or scaled it's common to do a histogram or a box plot, and then to follow it up to do a numerical analysis with common descriptive statistics, and in this video I want to show you how to do some of those basic descriptive statistics. To do this I'm going to start by loading a few packages. And then I'm going to load a dataset that I've used elsewhere. It's the state data. This is a dataset that contains information about Google searches and also results from a psychology paper about personality profiles on a state by state basis for the 48 continental United States.
