Type of data collected

- [Instructor] What type of data is collected with our UAV? Well if we're thinking about photographs, there's two types. There's vertical, that's imagery looking straight down at the ground, and oblique, that's imagery taken at an angle. Imagery taken at an angle is really great for 3D, whereas vertical is great for orthophotos and mapping. For example, in this oblique photograph of a dish, this dish is taken at about a 45-degree angle. You can see a lot of detail in this imagery. You can see trees and transformers and power lines and the landscape. This is great for 3D modeling. In fact, with the camera focused on this dish, and flown around where it's always looking at this dish, you can build a very detailed 3D model of this particular object. Oblique imagery is perfect for that sort of application, and this is where oblique data is useful for modeling in three dimensions. From a more two-dimensional aspect, vertical imagery, that is, imagery where the camera of the drone is…
