Is this course for you?

- [Teacher] Before we begin, let's talk a little bit about the level of this course and what it covers. This course will have a pure focus on the React Native framework. It will not teach you React itself. You need a good knowledge of React and JavaScript first. If you have not learned React yet, you should probably do that first. I don't mean to be a gatekeeper here, but I don't want you to waste your time on this course if you're not ready for it. When it comes to learning JavaScript and React, you have a lot of options. There are many courses on LinkedIn Learning that you can start with. You can also check out the many books and video courses I have over at jscomplete.com. If you're new to React, to start with this complete introduction to React lesson. This one does not assume any prior knowledge of the library. Taking this course without a fair understanding of the React Library itself will only confuse you, and you will probably get a bad first experience with React Native. Let me give you a specific example here. In this course, I use React hooks like useState and useEffect and many other methods in the React API. I will not be explaining these concepts before using them. I simply expect you to know them. Similarly, I'll often use modern JavaScript syntax, like async/await, for example. And I do not explain these either. If you're not familiar with things like import/export, rest/spread syntax, timers, promises, and async/await, I recommend that you go through this article first where I explain all these concepts and much more. However, prior knowledge in React Native itself is not required. When I use something from the React Native API, I'll certainly explain that first. In the next video, I'll do an overview of all the course chapters and what will be covered in each.
