What you should know

- This course will introduce you to React Native, but React Native isn't exactly a beginner topic. It assumes you know something about JavaScript and React. Now you don't have to be a JavaScript or a React expert to take this course, but you do want to understand some of the fundamentals of both. For instance, if you don't know what a function or a component is, you might want to brush up on your JavaScript and React before taking this course. If you've never heard of JavaScript, if you've never heard of React, you probably shouldn't start off here. We've got some great courses where you can learn these subjects. I'd recommend taking "Introducing the JavaScript Language" with Joe Chellman or "JavaScript for Web Designers" also with Joe Chellman. You're also going to need to know React. So if you've never heard of React, you may want to consider taking "Learning React" or "React JS Essential Training" with Eve Porcello. All React Native layout is based on Flexbox. If you're good with Flexbox, you're going to soar with React. Now I don't expect you to know Flexbox. I'm going to introduce it in this course, but at some point, you might want to learn Flexbox end to end. I recommend taking a course like "Advanced Responsive Layouts With CSS Flexbox" by Morten Rand-Hendriksen. Now if you're comfortable with JavaScript and you understand the basics of React, then you're ready for this course. If you consider yourself a pretty seasoned developer, you could probably pick up most of this stuff as you go along. If you find the syntax or code challenging at any point, take a step back and study some JavaScript and React and then come back to this course. I'm not going anywhere. Neither is React Native.
