- [Instructor] Over the last several years, one of the most requested features from Reason users to Reason developers was the ability to send MIDI out of Reason. To control external MIDI hardware, such as synthesizers and drum machines. In fact, it got to a point where many people had just about given up and thought it would never happen, but as of Reason 7, it's a feature. In fact, one of the teaser campaigns on the Propellerhead website was an image of a pitch fork in a frozen landscape. As in, Hell has frozen over. This MIDI output has been implemented as an external MIDI instrument in the rack. In addition to being able to control external MIDI hardware, I've found that in some cases, standalone software synthesizers can be controlled, as well. So I have opened the native instruments massive demo, right there, and I see that it shows up here. So I've selected that as the MIDI source for the external MIDI instrument.
