About Red Hat Certifications

- [Instructor] To learn a bit about Red Hat certifications, let's browse to their certification site and take a look at the list. Browse to www.redhat.com/en/services/certifications. Red Hat has a large offering of Linux certifications including the famous Red Hat certified engineer as well as specialized higher end certifications covering many topics such as cloud computing and performance tuning. The base certification however, is the RHCSA, which tests a user's knowledge of Red Hat system administration. This course is the first half of a two part series that is a fast track to the RHCSA certification. Here's a very brief list of objectives that we'll cover in this course. Under deploying systems, we'll learn to configure networking, schedule recurring tasks, install Linux systems as virtual guests, configure systems to use time services, install and update software packages, update the kernel, and modify the system bootloader. We'll also cover miscellaneous skills including how to use redirection, how to use grep and regular expressions to analyze text, and how to archive and compress files. We'll create and edit text files and learn how to do file management on the command line. We will operate running systems including interrupting the boot process in order to gain access to a system which can be useful for troubleshooting. We'll manage processes, read log files and journals, access a virtual machine's console and start and stop virtual machines. The RHCSA certification is required before taking any higher level Red Hat exams. So if you're pursuing any Red Hat certification this course will be useful.
