- [Instructor] Open LDAP was the included LDAP server in both Enterprise Linux six and seven. However, Red Hat has removed the Open LDAP Server in Enterprise Linux 8.1 and newer. Red Hat now encourages people to use their Red Hat directory server which is a commercial version of the 389 Directory Server and can only be purchased through subscription. Open LDAP however, continues to be a great option, so for this course we'll configure third-party repositories for Open LDAP packages. You have two choices of YUM repositories that contain Open LDAP. The first is Symas which is a third-party company that delivers open source identity and access governance and storage solutions along with support. And the second is the LDAP Tool Box project.
