NTP services introduction

- [Instructor] This chapter covers creating an NTP server and configuring the NTP client. As such, in this chapter we perform the following steps. We install and configure NTP services. We configure the chrony server. We configure the chrony client. We configure the time and date and then we use the chronyc client. It would be unfortunate to brush off this chapter as a fairly minor topic as it may not seem that important to have perfect time on a server, but there are several reasons why you might want to work through this chapter. NTP is often an objective on certification exams. Also, in order to have reliable centralized authentication with LDAP and Kerberos, which we'll cover in the next chapter, the time has to be identical on all hosts in the network using these services. If it is not, employees and possibly your boss will not be able to log in.
