From the course: Linux System Engineer: Web Servers and DNS Using Apache, NGINX, and BIND

What you need

- [Instructor] In this course, we will be using CentOS 7 Linux. CentOS 7 is a near exact clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. CentOS 7 is freely downloadable from centos.org. If you have access to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, you can use that as well. We'll be running CentOS 7 in virtual machines and virtual box. You can run virtual box on most any host operating system including Windows, Mac OS or Linux. You may want to have high speed internet for during Linux OS software updates. You will also want to have 15 to 20 gigabytes of free hard drive space for the Linux virtual machines. You can also use any CentOS 7 server with GUI installation. This means choosing server with GUI on the software selection screen. You will also want to make sure the first user is an administrator. The first course in this RHCE Certification Track is RHCE Cert Prep: Networking and SSH. That course covers the initial CentOS 7 installation and configuration. If you took RHCE Cert Prep: Networking and SSH, you can keep using that CentOS 7 in virtual machine if you wish. If you did not take that course, we have provided videos in this course for installing CentOS 7 and installing virtual box guest editions. I do, however, recommend taking RHCE Cert Prep: Networking and SSH as it creates the foundation for the rest of this RHCE Cert Prep series.
